Red: The Color of Freedom
by Jason Roth
A story about courage in the face of oppression, this legal thriller tells the inspirational tale of a strong-willed, patriotic, Hollywood spy in McCarthy-era America. Accused of sending covert communiqués to the KGB and personally helping to finance the gulags of the Soviet Union, the hero of this soul-stirring film proudly proclaims his first-amendment right to plot the violent overthrow of the United States.
Nearly torn apart by almost two half-days of Congressional questioning, the nonconforming Hollywood screenwriter calmly adjusts the miniature, gold-plated hammer and sickle on his breast pocket. He looks up at the faces of the bloodthirsty Senators towering over him and asks, "Did you ever notice that Hollywood producers never have a problem letting us screenwriters be the good guys on film, but still they shit on our screenplays in real life? What a bunch of conniving, left-wing, Hollywood cunts. I'd rather be standing on line for toilet paper."
He becomes a national hero, a parade is thrown in his honor, and yada, yada, yada, everyone lives happily ever after in communist America.
