Obama, Blagojevich, and the Senate Democrats: Who’s Pulling Whose Strings?
Immediately after Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich announced his appointee to Obama’s ex-Senate seat, bam! Obama comes out in favor of principle: whoever Blagojevich might or might not have appointed, Obama is adamantly in favor of the Senate Democrat decision to reject “any” appointment by Blagojevic. I live right next to New Jersey, and even I can smell the corruption. (And I say that as proud ex-New Jersean.)
Where do we start? Do we start with Obama waiting until an appointment is made before agreeing with the Senate’s decision to reject any Blagojevic appointment? Or, do we start with Obama saving the Senate from dealing with the “race card”; i.e., the fact that the Senate would have to reject a black Senate appointee? Or, come to think of it, do we start with the fact that Blagojevic wasn’t actually found guilty of anything, and the United States has actual laws that are supposed to be followed in this situation, regardless of what whim the Senate would like to follow due to the appearance of an Blagojevic appointment appearing “tainted”?
Personally, I would like to start with the fact that Israel has been bombing the living fuck out of Hamas over the last few days (which I’ve been happily cheering) and Obama is likewise biding his time to make a peep about it. Perhaps it is not his place, you may say, since he is not yet president. I say: either come out in agreement with Bush, that Israel is justified and Hamas is the bad guy here, or say nothing and silently voice your support for Hamas.
This guy is scum, and he’s only just getting started.
